WTC Viewing Platforms for Families
Open
Two viewing platforms are open for families to view the WTC site in quiet
contemplation:
One Liberty Plaza Family Room - located on the 20th floor
of One Liberty Plaza,
overlooking the World Trade Center site
Liberty Street Family Room - on Liberty Street at ground
level
Both areas provide a private setting for families.
One Liberty Plaza is staffed
7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Families should enter the building using
the Liberty Street entrance between 9 and 5 on weekdays. The Broadway
entrance should be used after 5 and on weekends and holidays. A Medical Examiners
Family
ID card or the P or T number is needed to pass security. Family members
are allowed to bring guests; however, the number is limited to one or
two
whenever
possible. The room holds no more than 30 people at one time.
The Liberty Street Room is open 7 days a week from 9 to 9. Families must
enter from Liberty and Washington Streets. The room accommodates 15 people
with an
outside viewing area. A Family ID card or your P or T number is also required
for access to the room.
For more information on the Family Rooms, please click here [.pdf file].
It is equally important, if you have not yet done so, to visit the Medical Examiner's office in order to obtain a Medical Examiner's Family ID card. This card gives you access to all 9/11 events and hopefully will serve as a principal identifier of family members. The Medical Examiner's phone # is 212-447-7884. Also, be sure to ask about the Memorial Park that was created there for family members.
For additional details, call the Pa Sept 11 hotline, (866) 328-2800.
