The Citigroup Foundation Citigroup Relief Fund
The Citigroup Relief Fund was created to provide scholarships for postsecondary education to children of those killed or permanently disabled during the September 11 terrorist attack. Citigroup Foundation endowed the Fund with a contribution of $15 million. Since that time, clients, share-holders and colleagues, as well as individuals and organizations from around the world, have built the Fund to more than $20 million.

Scholarship America (formerly Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America, Inc.) Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund
The Fund was created to provide education assistance for postsecondary study to financially needy dependents of those killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and during rescue activities relating to those attacks. Lumina Foundation for Education of Indiana initiated the Fund with a $3 million grant. Special subfunds have been established for identified groups and can be specifically designated.

Freddie Mac MBS Mega Scholarship Fund
Freddie Mac established the Fund to honor the legacy of the September 11 deceased individuals that were contributors to the successful market for mortgage-backed securities. Hyogo Prefecture Hyogo Prefecture Friendship Fund
The Hyogo Prefecture Friendship Fund was established by the Hyogo Prefecture Fundraising Committee to provide post-secondary education scholarships to dependents of victims of the September 11, 2002 terrorist attacks. Governor Ido and the people of Hyogo felt connected to the victims of September 11 because of similar human losses, destruction, and desperation they suffered following the earthquake in 1995.

USFreightways employees established the 911 Armed Forces Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships specifically for the education of children of September 11 victims. USFreightways partnered with IIE to provide administrative services.

International Youth Foundation (IYF) Nokia Education Fund
In cooperation with IYF, Nokia established the Nokia Education Fund with an initial corporate grant of $1 million. Additional contributions were provided by Nokia staff and suppliers. The Fund will provide scholarships to young people affected by September 11 irrespective of nationality. Scholarship assistance will be based on financial need; awards may be used in any country.

Japan Relief Fund Japan Relief Fund
Funds were raised by a number of Japanese companies to provide scholarships to dependents of uniformed officers and relief workers who died during, or as a direct result of, the terrorist events of September 11, 2001, or the rescue activities necessitated by such events.

Major League Baseball (MLB) - Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) Freedom Scholarship
Fund Major league baseball and its players association established the MLB-MLBPA Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Baseball teams and players along with the NFL, NBA, NHL, and NASCAR also made contributions to the fund. The MLB-MLBPA contributed $8 million to Scholarship America’s Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund to establish the MLB-MLBPA Freedom Scholarship.

National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation (NADCF) Survivors Relief Fund The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) created the Survivors Relief Fund, under the auspices of NADCF, shortly after the September 11 attacks to assist families of victims. Franchised new car and truck dealers nationwide contributed to the fund.

NCAA NCAA 9-11 Scholarships

New York State Higher Education Services Corporation New York State World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship Program
Initiated by George E. Pataki, Governor of New York, the legislated New York State World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship guarantees a college education to all of the families of those killed or seriously and permanently disabled in the terrorist attacks at all SUNY and CUNY schools or an equivalent amount of aid for students attending private colleges in New York State.

Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation created the American Heroes Fund in the days following the September 11 attacks to allow its employees worldwide, as well as the Company’s customers and related business partners, the opportunity to participate in the relief effort. Twin Towers Fund Twin Towers Fund Scholarship Program
Former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliana established the fund, while many individuals contributed to the fund. The purpose of the fund is to assist, support, and recognize the families of the members of the uniformed service workers affected by September 11, 2001 by offering scholarships for post-secondary education.
United Way and New York Community Trust September 11th Fund
United Way of New York City and the New York Community Trust established the September 11th Fund to meet the immediate and longer-term needs of victims, families, and communities affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Fund works by making grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies with the expertise to meet a wide range of needs quickly.

United Negro
College Fund (UNCF) Liberty Scholarship
Liberty Scholarship is the commitment of the 39 UNCF members to provide full scholarship support for the children of victims who were killed or permanently disabled as a result of the September 11 tragedy. A grant from the Keck Foundation provides support to students attending UNCF institutions who were economically affected by the tragedy.
